Classic Bridal Cars was established back in 2004. We had no plans to run a wedding cars business. I(Mark) had not long closed my very successful wedding video business (Mirage Video), as I needed more time with the family. Using the money from the sale of the video equipment, we bought the Bentley off eBay from a little old guy retiring from his wedding business in Blackpool. It was in the colours you see it in today. We had planned on restoring it back to pearl grey, its original factory colour and to start taking it to classic car shows. Our house is a shortcut between two pubs, and a week would not go by without couples knocking and asking if we could do their wedding after seeing the car sat on the drive. Jane and I took a few bookings to help pay for restoration materials, and then we were asked what do we have for the bridesmaids? This is when the Daimler was bought and all of a sudden we had another successful little business.
I was juggling my full time job as a mechanic and breakdown driver, and Jane helped when possible on days off as a teaching assistant at a local school. After placing a very small advert in the Yellow Pages, the phone never stopped ringing. It was about this time I was made redundant and this was the shove I needed to make this my full time job.
Originally we promoted the company as having the only classic wedding Bentley on the Wirral with a matching black over ivory Daimler. We soon found our exceptional service and attention to detail was getting almost more interest than the cars. With having been in the wedding industry for so long, we are able to advise our customers on all aspects of the day. The service we provide makes us totally unique here on the Wirral. We are very passionate about weddings and this is why we go the extra mile.
As the demand increased, we added the Daimler convertible and employed Barry our driver. He was a professional photographer and is a lovely bloke who took early retirement. He enjoys weddings as much as we do. So that’s how we started, long may we continue 🙂
