Bridal Car FAQ

These are just a few of the questions we are regularly asked. If you have a question and it has not been covered below, please do not hesitate to call.  We are a friendly bunch and don’t bite….we want your special day to be the best time of your life, give us a call.

Q1. In which areas do you provide your wedding car services?
A. We mainly cover Wirral, Chester and Cheshire. However, we place no restrictions on any of our vehicles, but extra fees and mileage charges will be incurred for this. The Bentley only does 8 miles to the gallon of fuel so this has to be factored in the price for example. Please contact us for more details.

Q2. How long do we have the car for on our wedding day?
A. On average we are with you for about 3 hours, which includes taking Father and Bride to the ceremony venue, waiting time during the ceremony and the following photographs, then taking the Bride and Groom on to the reception venue. A short stop off for photographs at an additional location can be included on direct route to the reception but please advise us of the location before the day. After the Bride and Groom have arrived safely at the reception venue, the cars will depart back to our base. Up to 4 hours in attendance is included in the price quoted. The same details above will apply to Registry Office weddings. Any extra time or mileage above what has been previously agreed will be charged for. If you are having a tea ceremony after the service we need to know. These can add an extra hour to ninety minutes to the timings and will need including into the quote.

Q3. Ours is a Single (A to B) Journey as our reception is at the same venue as the ceremony, what usually happens in this case?
A. We take Father and Bride to the ceremony venue. Your Chauffeur will then have a short wait until immediately after the ceremony. The Bride & Groom may have photographs together with the car and go for a small drive (ask your photographer first, they might not have much time) then return the Bride and Groom back to the venue for the rest of their photos.  The cars then depart back to our base. As in Q2, any extra time or mileage above what has been previously agreed will be charged for. All our couples enjoy this trip as its generally the only time he couple get some peace to chat. Usually, this is a good time for brides to thank their partners for the lovely flowers and present they received in the morning before the wedding (heads up there for us dim blokes haha) 🙂

Q4. We’re having one car; can we use this car to take the Bridesmaids & Bride’s Mother to the Ceremony prior to the Bride?
A. Yes, for full Church Wedding itineraries a single journey can be included without additional charge (mileage, space and time dependant).  If your wedding is a Civil Ceremony and just one (A to B) trip is planned, an earlier trip can also be included to the ceremony without additional charge. In all cases this is subject to the overall mileage for the itinerary being within our initial allowance. We would suggest that if the driving time to the ceremony venue is more than 10 to 15 minutes in each direction then additional transport might be considered more practical for your Bridesmaids. You must also consider possible traffic and road conditions, if these are not good an earlier journey using the Bride’s car may allow it to become delayed or dirty by the time the Bride travels. You must also plan who will take the bridesmaids and Mother to the reception after the service as we cannot do a second run transporting them to the reception.

Q5. Is our car going to attend other weddings in the same day?
A. Absolutely not, Classic Bridal Cars, unlike other some companies, books each car to only one wedding per day.

Q6. Can we view a car before we make a decision to book?
A. Most certainly, we want you to be sure the car or cars chosen are right for you.  First of all decide from the photographs on this web site which car or cars you require, we will then check to see if they are available for your date. We will give you a quote, and then if the quote is acceptable to you we will arrange for you to view the car. Appointments must be made to view the vehicles as they are garaged and would need uncovering before you arrive. As the majority of clients book a car without wishing to view first, we would always suggest you phone us before commencing your viewing trip to ensure the vehicle you are going to see is still available for your wedding date and has not subsequently been booked since an earlier request to view.

Q7. After we tell you we would like to book a vehicle, how long do you hold it for us?
A. When you enquire we write your details down in our diary but we will not hold the cars unless the booking fee has been paid. If you do want to book and be guaranteed the cars for your wedding you need to pay the £100.00 (per car) booking fee ASAP. There is no hard sell here at Classic Bridal Cars, but obviously the summer months and Saturdays are always in high demand, so do not leave your booking fee payment until the last minute. Please make sure you read our terms and conditions regarding payments. The full outstanding balance is to be paid 8 weeks before the hire date. If this is not paid the cars will be made available to other clients and your booking fee is non-refundable. Please note we have to operate a first come first served policy on booking the cars. We now have no option but to accept the first booking fee that is produced. We are able to take debit card payments either in person with chip and pin or verbally over the phone, or bank transfer if this helps.

Q8. Do you carry out weddings during the week?
A. Yes, we work seven days a week, we even provide transport for other events (See Q11).

Q9. How far in advance should we book our wedding transport?
A. To stand a good chance of reserving your choice of vehicle we would suggest if your wedding is being held on a Saturday then you should think of booking around 18 months in advance.  If your wedding is being held on any other day of the week then booking 10 to 12 months in advance would be advisable. If you require a number of vehicles that match in colour or model type then we would advise booking 18 months in advance for whichever day of the week the wedding is being held.

Q10. Will you vary from your Full Church Wedding and Single Journey [Civil] scenarios detailed?
A. Most certainly, this is your day and we are here to do exactly as you wish. All we ask is that when making your reservation you advise us of your full itinerary and timings especially if they are going to be different to those described in Q2 & Q3 above so we do not have last minute surprises on the day. There is a section for “special instructions” on the booking form we send you. Please note extra journeys not agreed at the time of booking are chargeable. We price our service using the information given at first enquiring.

Q11. I see you do mainly wedding hire; can the cars be used for other events and not just weddings?
A. Yes. We have provided transport for other events including, graduations, film work, christenings, anniversaries, trips to the theatre, birthdays and renewing vows etc. Please give us a call with your information and we will try and help. We may have to purchase extra insurance as our wedding hire policy will not cover certain events. We cant however do runs to the airport or pickups from reception to overnight hotel after the end of the wedding night. This is classed as a taxi run and the vehicles are not plated or licenced to do this. Please check you are legal and insured if you book someone else.

Q12. Do your cars have flowers? Could we provide our own flowers for our colour scheme?
A. Yes, the cars have silk flowers on each rear parcel shelf. These are easily removed and are in pastel colours to try and blend with any colours of dress and bridal flowers. You can provide your own flowers, either silk or real (at your own cost) if you wish; We will be happy to speak to your florist or even show them the car so your flowers look just right on the day. When you have finished with the cars we take your flowers into the reception so they can be used as a table dressing if you wish. You can also provide different colour ribbons for the cars to compliment your colour scheme; the standard ribbon we provide is ivory.

Q13. Do you have any references or previous customers we could contact?
A. Yes, we are a small family run business and don’t do much advertising, so the bulk of our work is from recommendation. We have a review page on Facebook with comments from previous customers. We also have picture albums, letters and cards here at the office you are most welcome to read. With over 30 years in the wedding industry, we understand the needs of our customers, also the needs of fellow wedding professionals like photographers and video. We are able to work together to get the best results for your special day.

Q14. Can you recommend other companies like photographers etc?
A. Yes, we are more than happy to chat about possible suppliers for your wedding. As with any recommendation, ask all the normal questions you would usually ask and do not rely solely on someone else’s judgment. What we may like could be the total opposite of what you require. My only advice is to speak to previous customers and ask them direct how that particular company was on their day. For the likes of photos and video, ask to see “other” albums and dvds, not just “the good stuff or best work” they usually show you.

Pictures we take.  We do take some free photos at your wedding (if Mark is driving one of the cars). These will be sent to you on a DVD for you free of charge some time after the wedding. There is a section on the booking form asking for you to give permission for us to take pictures. If you do not want pictures taken then please let us know and leave that section blank and tick NO box. Mark does not interfere with the official photographer’s photos and likens his pictures to the same guests could take so calls these snaps. The main reason we take pictures is simply because of photographer’s copyright. Yes, photographers say they will send us pictures but we are not allowed to display them or use them to promote the company (which makes their images pointless). We are also in an era of internet, social media, Pinterest and blogging; sadly some official photographers don’t understand this and see anyone else with a pro camera a threat or distraction. At the end of the day, Mark might take one picture that no one got, and that in itself makes it worthwhile having an extra lens at the wedding.

We hope we have managed to answer most of those questions regularly asked, however, please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further information.  The above Questions & Answers are to be read in conjunction with our standard Terms and Conditions, which apply at all times.
